Current Building Status:
The Spring Temple Buddha, completed in 2002 and located in
Henan, China is the tallest statue in the world standing at 420 feet or 128
meters. Among some of its
characteristics are: 82 ft building pedestal and a 66ft lotus throne. When the Bamiyan Buddhas were destroyed by
the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Chinese decided to start constuction on this
Buddha Statue. The name comes from the nearby
Tianrui hot spring which produces 60 degree waters. As a comparison, the Statue of Liberty is 151
feet tall (if you add pedestal 305 feet).
Its one of the wonder in the world of Buddhism and world heritage too.
